SEASONAL GARDEN CENTER ASSOCIATE

Position - Seasonal

Starting Pay: $15.00 PER Hour

The Garden Center Associate position is categorized as a Seasonal, hourly, part-time, non-exempt position. Scheduled days and hours within the department vary based on department needs. Flexibility on weekends is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

GUEST SERVICE

• Provide exceptional customer service to Retail Garden Center guests.
• Greet guests and assist with their questions or find an employee who can better help with the guests needs.
• Develop familiarity with department locations and products in order to adequately assist guests.
• Upholds standard for a strong company image that invites guests to repeat their business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Acts as a floater position to assist various departments with their needs of the day.
• Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Maintenance of plants; removing dead plants and disposing of unsellable plants
• Restock benches and shelves with back-stock
• Neatly organizing and straightening of plants and store products
• Sweeping of floors
• Emptying of trash receptacles
• Dusting of shelves
• Gathering and stocking guest shopping carts throughout store and parking lots.

COMMUNICATION

• All employees treat guests and co-workers with friendliness, respect and professionalism.
• You are responsible for knowing weekly sales, in-store specials we are promoting, and special events.

CLEANING AND SAFETY ADHERENCE

• Maintains clean, organized and safe work environment.
• Recognize and resolve any hazards which may cause a safety issue
• Know the location of SDS and SARA information and understand and follow the instructions.
• Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and understand the Hazardous Communication Program.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions varies; to include inclement weather (rain, snow, heat, cold).
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

All EMPLOYEES are responsible for working together in an efficient manner and assuring that there is open communication to all levels within the company. A neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times is of the utmost importance for every Tagawa Gardens employee.

All positions within Tagawa Gardens require assisting other departments during critical times in the peak season to include lifting and carrying of heavy materials throughout the day. This position requires you to regularly lift and/or move up to 60lbs to waist and carry it 10 ft. with or without reasonable accommodation. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. All employees must follow the safety guidelines and procedures set by Tagawa Gardens, use equipment and materials correctly for their intended purpose, and determine appropriate action for dealing with all situations that may arise. In addition to the duties listed, this role will be required to assist with other special projects or duties assigned by Supervisor or Management.
