Seasonal Parks Referee

 The Referee is responsible for officiating games, enforcing the rules of the sport, ensuring fair play, and maintaining control of the competition. This position requires strong decision-making skills, the ability to remain impartial under pressure, and effective communication with players, coaches, and fellow officials. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Officiate games in accordance with the official rules and regulations of the sport.
• Make quick, accurate, and impartial decisions regarding gameplay, penalties, and violations.
• Maintain a safe and fair playing environment for all participants.
• Communicate rulings clearly to players, coaches, and scorekeepers.
• Manage game flow, including timekeeping and stoppages as required.
• Monitor player conduct and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Collaborate with other officials and game staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Attend pre-game and post-game meetings as required.
• Maintain knowledge of rules, mechanics, and updates through training and certifications.
   

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of the sport’s rules and regulations.
• Certification or licensure (if required by the sport/league).
• Strong observational and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm and authoritative in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina to keep up with the pace of play.
• Prior officiating experience (preferred, but may vary depending on level).
   

Work Environment:

• Work is performed on playing fields, courts, or arenas.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required depending on the schedule.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions for certain sports.
