Seasonal RedZone Researcher

Summary

The RedZone Researcher helps to ensure factual accuracy and editorial consistency for fast-paced live RedZone show.    

Responsibilities

• Ensures every aspect of the show is factually accurate including graphics, segments and in-the-moment reactions to games 

• Works closely with producers, editors and talent on show content from planning meetings to live production 

• Utilizes broad and extensive football knowledge to improve show, anticipate needs and react quickly 

• Has in depth understanding of football statistics, data and Next Gen Stats 

• Works within our standards for high quality research content while maintaining tireless work ethic on a consistent basis 

• Helps to identify new and emerging statistical trends 

• Collaborate with research team as needed on best practices and show needs 

• Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines and react quickly to breaking news 

• Recommends changes to enhance current research methods and standards 

• Strong attention to detail and communication skills are imperative  

Required Qualifications

• 1-3 years professional experience working with statistics or covering or analyzing sports events and news 

• Undergraduate degree 

• Must have strong foundation of knowledge about current and historical football statistics, news, events and milestones 

• Must be technologically savvy, with strong command of Excel  

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

• Experience in sports media 

• Previous work experience working for or covering the NFL 

• Proven track record of success working with high profile broadcasters 

• Proven ability to work collaboratively and on deadline 

• Knowledge of football research databases/resources a plus (i.e. Pro Football Reference, Pro Football Focus, Rotoworld and/or nfl.com) 

• Thorough knowledge of football media landscape, including emerging platforms and competing properties 

• Detailed knowledge of television production processes, including awareness of key editorial roles 

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

• ≤ 40 hours / week 


• 7-month employment period
