Seasonal Temporary Public Works Technician

Reports To: Parks & Stormwater Supervisor

Supervision Exercised: None

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hourly: $15.16 to $18.00 hourly D.O.E.

Benefits: Workers’ compensation, sick leave

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. • Work in and around underground utilities.


• Manual digging and excavating.


• Maintain parks and park facilities, performing necessary landscaping, weeding, and groundskeeping work.


• Upkeep and cleaning of all Town facilities and restrooms.


• Make repairs to and maintains Town buildings; perform janitorial work; set up for meetings; move furniture.


• Set up street barricades for special events, clean litter, and maintain trash receptables and paint curbs.


• Assist other maintenance employees in performing repairs/maintenance of streets and park facilities.


• Clean clogged storm drain basins.


• Clean and maintain equipment used in the course of work.


• Follow all safety policies of the Public Works Department.


• Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Physical Demands: Required to use hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to stand; talk or hear; walk; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment: General indoor and outdoor maintenance, streets and alleys, water, grounds keeping, and other assorted duties.

Equipment Used: Operates trucks, light to heavy equipment, and other motorized equipment, including lawnmowers and tractors. Operates hand and power tools, including trimmers and blowers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• One-year general public works and maintenance experience preferred


• Previous municipal government experience is desirable


• Any equivalent combination of education and experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Must possess a valid Colorado driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.


• Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.

HOURS OF WORK

Regular working hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and outside of regular work hours as necessary. Summer hours may apply (4-day work week, 10-hour shifts).
