Position Details

The Yard Assistant supports yard operations by organizing materials, tools, and equipment, assisting with deliveries, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. While occasional driving may be required, the primary focus is on yard tasks. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for safe and efficient teamwork. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive materials frequently to Vail and surrounding areas, transporting smaller loads that fit in a truck (large loads, trailers, and heavy equipment transport not required unless qualified).
• Assist with loading, securing, and unloading materials, tools, and equipment to support field projects and deliveries.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard area, ensuring materials and equipment are properly stored.
• Support inventory management by tracking stock levels, identifying needs, and assisting with  replenishment.
• Perform routine checks and light maintenance on yard equipment and tools, reporting significant issues to the supervisor.
• Provide ground support to field crews, including assisting with crane load days and cleaning up project sites.
• Assist with snow removal and other weather-related tasks to ensure the yard is accessible and safe.
• Maintain professionalism and effective communication with team members, supervisors, and field crews.
• Exhibit flexibility and adaptability by undertaking additional responsibilities as needed to meet organizational requirements.
• Demonstrate a willingness and desire to learn and grow within the role.
• Be prepared to take on additional tasks as assigned by supervision to support evolving business needs.

Requirements

· Experience in basic yard maintenance, equipment operation, or construction support is preferred.

· Strong organizational skills to maintain a well-managed yard and storage area.

· Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, with a willingness to learn as needed.

· Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and report issues.

· Dependability, including regular attendance and punctuality.

· Flexibility to work overtime when required.

· A valid driver’s license, maintain a good driving record.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The job involves exposure to various weather conditions while working outdoors.

Lifting and carrying materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. regularly

Driving, sometimes in heavy traffic and varying weather conditions.
