Senior Application Architect / ATM and Branch Systems

Requirements

We are seeking a Senior Application Architect with deep expertise in ATM and Branch Systems to join a financial services team in Columbus, OH. This is a hands-on architecture leadership role requiring experience in backend integration, solution design, documentation standards, and direct alignment with enterprise architecture frameworks. The ideal candidate brings both technical depth and collaborative leadership, with experience in consumer/retail banking systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, maintain, and communicate application architecture and technology roadmaps.
  

• Design and govern application frameworks/platforms for scalable, enterprise-level consumption.
  

• Align solutions with Huntington’s Target State Enterprise Architecture.
  

• Establish and enforce architectural standards, best practices, and documentation protocols.
  

• Lead architectural evaluations and product/solution analysis.
  

• Provide guidance to delivery teams on design, integration, and process improvement.
  

• Mentor senior developers and delivery staff, fostering technical growth.
  

• Assist Sr. SDMs by thoroughly understanding application flows and service interactions.
  

• Navigate technical conflicts and mediate solutions across stakeholders.
  

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and architectural planning sessions.
  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of experience with ATM and Branch Systems, including backend and batch integrations.
  

• Proven experience developing architecture for mission-critical enterprise applications.
  

• Strong understanding of architectural trends, secure design, and service-oriented architecture.
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  

• Ability to think critically and challenge ideas constructively during design/documentation reviews.
  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Expertise in financial services, especially retail/branch and digital banking systems.
  

• Ability to communicate clearly across all organizational levels (business, IT, executive).
  

• Familiarity with Archimate modeling language and tools like Archi for architectural diagrams.
  

• Proven ability to drive and enforce strict documentation and design standards.
  

• Skilled at navigating and resolving high-stress, cross-team technical discussions.
  

• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  

• Experience with Agile architecture, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud platforms.
  

• Background in SDLC methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
  

• Strong grasp of security, scalability, availability, and performance design principles.
  

• Knowledge of banking data models and fintech integrations.
  

• Exposure to data analytics, AI/ML, and cloud-native architecture strategies.
  

• High level of professionalism, integrity, and leadership presence.
