Senior Platform Engineer Crossplane / DevOps

Our client, a global pharmaceutical leader, is enhancing its internal developer portal (Forge/Backstage) by integrating Crossplane as the infrastructure control plane. The goal is to improve orchestration capabilities and streamline the provisioning of infrastructure and applications via GitOps.

This initiative is central to strengthening platform engineering practices, ensuring scalability, and providing application teams with a secure, declarative, and observable infrastructure experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Crossplane & GitOps Integration
  

  
  
  
  

  • Design and implement Crossplane XRDs/CRDs and GitOps pipelines for declarative provisioning.
    

  
  

  • Manage GitOps CI/CD workflows for Crossplane manifests.
    

  
  



• Portal Development
  

  
  
  
  

  • Enhance Forge/Backstage UI features, templates, and workflows.
    

  
  

  • Extend orchestration to support parallel and sequential workflows.
    

  
  



• Kubernetes & AWS Operations
  

  
  
  
  

  • Configure and secure EKS clusters (RBAC/IAM).
    

  
  

  • Implement secure cluster operations aligned with Crossplane.
    

  
  

  • Design and validate backup/DR strategies for EKS, including ETCD.
    

  
  



• Monitoring & Observability
  

  
  
  
  

  • Implement monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
    

  
  

  • Build dashboards, collect metrics, and configure alerting.

  • Review token and audit requirements.
    

  
  

  • Implement SOPS/KMS policies for buckets and ETCD audit compliance.

  • Support CI/CD best practices for Crossplane workflows.
    

  
  

  • Provide documentation, onboarding materials, and training sessions.
    

  
  

Requirements

• Advanced expertise with Kubernetes (EKS) and cluster security (RBAC/IAM).
  


• Strong experience with AWS and Terraform.
  


• Proven knowledge of GitOps workflows.
  


• Hands-on expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry for observability.
  


• Strong background in platform engineering and DevOps.
  


• Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and deliver knowledge transfer.
