Responsibilities:

• Complete social developmental studies and cultural and/or adaptive behavioral assessments for special education case study evaluations.


• Review student referral packets for pertinent social developmental and/or mental health-related information.


• Facilitate ongoing communication with school district personnel regarding student progress.


• Stay current on the availability of outside agencies, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, and social service facilities.


• Gather information from other staff prior to student staffing or IEP meetings.


• Complete IEP or other reports to be presented at staffing.


• Provide verbal or written feedback on students' progress and future goals and objectives during staffing.


• Communicate with parents in a supportive manner providing them with special education-related information.


• Participate in and contribute to in-service sessions, providing input and suggestions for future topics and directions.


• Encourage the existence of student organizations that may assist in achieving personal and institutional goals.


• Maintain knowledge about key issues in students' present and past experiences that may influence their actions and affect their learning abilities.


• Adjust and merge treatment and instruction as necessary.

Qualifications:

• A Master's Degree in a mental health/human services field from an accredited college (counseling, social work, psychology).


• Current state licensure is required (ISBE Type 73, LCSW, LSW, LPC, or LCPC).


• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in behavioral health.


• Experience in individual, family, and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills is preferred.


• Strong clinical assessment skills, with a focus on the child/adolescent population preferred.
