Job Description - Special Education Teacher

Adelphi is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide contracted instructional services at a public charter high school in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Providers will deliver supply special education instructional and speech services for 9-12 grade high school students to serve students who have an IEP.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement

• Experience with Illuminate or similar platform and willingness to learn RESA platform

• Ability to initiate and complete tasks with self-direction

• Comfort with onsite and virtual instruction

• Strong customer service orientation toward students, families, and community members

• Understanding of technology use in instructional and operational settings

• Satisfactory performance in instruction and classroom management

Responsibilities:

• Guide and facilitate students through online curriculum; support students in-person preferred but also virtually if necessary.

• Deliver instruction and services aligned with student IEPs

• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by IEP.

• Provide progress monitoring and accurate documentation within Illuminate

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each

student assigned.

• Responsible for reporting, Medicaid tracking and billing

• Support compliance with state and federal special education requirements

• Ensure FAPE during the student enrollment process

• Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of

each preparation as required

• Perform any other duties as assigned
