Summary

We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our team as a consultant in our ICF/IID program. The Consulting Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides oversight, guidance, and clinical consultation to ensure high-quality speech services in compliance with federal and state regulations specific to ICF/IID facilities. This role supports the facility’s interdisciplinary team by offering expertise in resident's speech needs, staff training, and speech-related policy development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The three ICF/IID facilities work with twenty-four children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your contributions will be vital in helping us fulfill our mission of delivering high-quality community-based services.

Responsibilities

• Screening evaluation and assessment of residents and clients including:
  
  
  
  • Evaluation and screening of resident and client speech functions;
  
  
  • Comprehensive speech and language evaluation as indicated by screening results, including appraisal of articulation, voice, rhythm, and language.
  
  
  
  


• Treatment services as prescribed are interpreted as an extension of the evaluation process. Such treatment services include, but are not limited to:
  
  
  
  • Direct training of residents and clients;
  
  
  • Consultation with appropriate staff for speech Improvement and speech education activities;
  
  
  • Collaboration with appropriate staff to develop skills of individuals in comprehension as well as expression.
  
  
  
  


• Reporting and recording of evaluation and assessment results in an accurate and systematic fashion, including:
  
  
  
  • Where appropriate, the provision of information useful to other staff working directly with the residents and clients for inclusion on the residents’ and clients’ file;
  
  
  • When continuing observation of the treatment process is provided, the accurate recording, summarization, and communication of such observation to the staff working with the resident or client and the utilization of continuing observation in the evaluation process.
  
  
  
  


• Membership and participation on the interdisciplinary treatment team for residents and clients receiving speech pathology services.

Requirements

• Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university or college program


• Speech-Language Pathology Licensure in Idaho


• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with interdisciplinary teams and person-centered care planning.


• Certification in Developmental Disabilities Nursing (optional but desirable).


• 2 years of SLP experience, preferably with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


• Knowledge of ICF/IID federal regulations (42 CFR § 483 Subpart D) and applicable state rules.
