Spring 2026 Varsity Track & Field Head Coach (Seattle, WA)
Stipend, Term-Limited, Temporary Position

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Athletic Department as the Varsity Track & Field Head Coach. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s goals towards building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. We believe that a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are necessary to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and families; we encourage diversity in our applicant pool.
The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Emerald Sound Conference to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. While most sports are offered separately for boys and girls, the Athletic Department staff is committed to working collaboratively with each participant to determine options that best suit each student-athlete’s journey.
The Varsity Track & Field Head Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including planning and leading practices, coaching contests, and transporting the team to off-campus sites in a school vehicle. In collaboration with the Athletics Department, the Head Coach will recruit, support, and evaluate assistant and lower-level coaches, identify and secure practice locations, and establish the team schedule, including invitational meets. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.
The season begins on Monday, March 2, 2026, and continues through the end of May. Practices are held Monday through Friday between 3:45 and 6:30 p.m. (no longer than two hours per day) on The Bush School campus, at Washington Park Playfield, and at local track and field venues rented from the city or nearby high schools. Contests typically take place on weekday afternoons and occasional Saturdays. Coaches generally meet athletes at Bush, travel together to the practice or contest site, and return to campus at the end of the day.

Note: stipend amount reflects the total stipend when the coach attends all practices, contests, and team activities, including the post-season.
