The Starter position at Arlington Lakes Golf Club and Nickol Knoll Golf Club puts you at the center of the action in a welcoming, customer-focused environment. You'll interact with golfers daily, organizing golfers on the first tee to maintain safety and control of the course. It's an ideal role for someone who enjoys golf and being part of a close-knit team.
Uses starter tablet to verify payment and records cart numbers
Places flags in cups on the putting green and maintains water buckets throughout shift
Records group/league names, number of golfers, number of holes being played, and times of tee-off for each group/league
Matches up smaller groups or single golfers to create foursomes whenever possible or as dictated by tee sheet
Directs walk-ons to the clubhouse
Monitors the pace of play for golfers completing 9 holes and informs them if they need to pick up their pace
Participates in a pass on meeting during shift change with other staff members proactively and professionally
Informs Golf Course Rangers of any possible problem or disruptive groups
Maintains the cleanliness of the tee and patio area by performing custodial duties, including but not limited to, sweeping, wiping off tables, picking up trash, etc.
Assists the Golf Course Ranger in informing patrons to leave the course when the lightning detection system is activated
Attends work on a regular basis
Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook
Maintains a clean and organized work environment
Additional functions as assigned which may be considered essential
This position must possess the following qualifications:
High school student, high school graduate, or G.E.D.
Minimum age of 16 is required
Minimum of one to two years' experience playing golf
Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Standing for sustained periods while completing work
Repetitive hand/arm movements such as when driving and retrieving golf carts
Some bending, kneeling and reaching for items off the floor and on high shelves
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. in golf cart batteries, when needed.
