Summer Day Camp Instructor
Job Summary:
The City of Athens is seeking Summer Day Camp Instructors to assist with the daily operation of eight one-week summer youth camps for children ages 5–12. Camps are held at the Athens Community Center and include themed activities, walking field trips, and scheduled visits to the Athens City Pool. Instructors are responsible for supervising campers, assisting with activity planning and implementation, and maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging camp environment.
This is a seasonal position for an eight-week summer camp program running from June 8, 2026 through August 7, 2026, with no camp held June 29, 2026 through July 3, 2026. A mandatory week of staff training will be held June 1, 2026 through June 5, 2026. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts occurring between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. This is a seasonal position expected to last about 120 days and is covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act. The starting pay rate is $12.00/hr. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Physical Demands
Applicant must be able to participate in all camp activities. This position requires standing and walking several hours each day. It will also require bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs, reaching above shoulders, pushing/pulling, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
The City may consider any other equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
