Job Description - Take 2! Performance Academy Musical Director

We are thrilled to be launching our inaugural Take 2! Performance Academy this year at our locations in Van Alstyne and Greenville and we are looking for YOU! The Musical Director will be responsible for all musical aspects of our Spring musical production, including casting, rehearsals and performances. The Musical Director will work with the director, student performers and other creative team members to bring the show to life, ensuring a cohesive and enjoyable experience for both the cast and audience.

Drama Kids Take 2! Performance Academy Musical Director Prerequisites are below.

Musical Proficiency:

Strong piano skills, including the ability to play chords, sight-read, and transpose music.

Vocal Skills:

Ability to sing well enough to demonstrate vocal techniques and provide guidance to singers.

Conducting Experience:

Experience in conducting musical groups, including the ability to lead rehearsals and performances.

Knowledge of Musical Theater:

Familiarity with various musical theater styles and repertoire.

Experience with Children:

Previous experience working with children in a musical or theatrical setting.

Communication and Leadership Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and other team members, as well as the ability to motivate and inspire young performers.

Organizational Skills:

Ability to manage rehearsals along with the Director, track progress, and handle administrative tasks related to the production.

The Musical Director role is a paid, part-time, contracted position. For our Van Alstyne location - availability is Tuesdays from 6:30-8p. For our Greenville location - availability is Mondays from 12-1:30p

6-8 Rehearsals between October 2025 - March 2026. This may fluctuate based on show demands and the Musical Director's professional opinion after discussion and rehearsal feedback with Director.

Drama Kids of Fannin, Grayson & Hunt Counties is an after-school and community-based drama program that focuses on "development through drama." We empower our students by fostering their confidence, creativity and public-speaking skills through the dramatic arts. We offer year-round classes and camps for ages 4-17. We have locations in Bonham, Denison, Greenville and Van Alstyne. At Drama Kids, the difference is dramatic!
