MPS enrolls nearly 200 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham, MA campus in an ASL/English bilingual, bicultural educational model.

About Support Services:
The Support Services team consists of Occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language therapy. Complete OT evaluations for a pediatric deaf/hard of hearing population ages 3-22 with diagnoses such as, learning disabilities, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, emotional/behavioral needs, and muscular dystrophy. Evaluations and OT services are designed to enhance the student's potential for learning, to assist the student in acquiring those functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment, and to help the student function independently.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Complete Occupational Therapy evaluations for pediatric deaf/hard of hearing population ages 3-22 with diagnoses such as, learning disabilities, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, emotional/behavioral needs, and muscular dystrophy. Evaluations may include initial referrals, screenings, or tri-annual evaluations to determine service needs and eligibility. Evaluations help enhance the student's potential for learning, to assist the student in acquiring those functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment, and to help the student function independently.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Occupational Therapy evaluations.
Performs student evaluation and screenings.
Provides reassessment of students focusing on areas of need at intervals determined to be educationally relevant.
Consults with other members of the educational team and the family to plan appropriate programs for each student as needed.
Provides/suggests adaptive equipment for students as appropriate.
Documents student's status and evaluation plan via Individual Education Plan or addendum to IEP as appropriate.
Responsible for maintaining records.
Attends evaluation meetings, and other school meetings as appropriate.
Communicates results of evaluations and reports of Occupational Therapy services to educational staff, parents, students, and when appropriate, other professions and agencies concerned with the student. Refers students to other services as appropriate.
Some lifting may be required when working with young students or students with special needs, however, TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity, and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible. The diversity of our student population may require that some assignments have a heavier physical responsibility due to safety. If the opening for which you are applying will require more strenuous physical activity, the unique needs will be discussed at the time of interview.
