Temporary Security Guard (4-6 months)

Description

This is a temporary position covering  leave for approximately 4-6 months. Transitions to other roles at Ojo Spa Resorts may be considered based on business needs, performance, and ability. This specific position is specifically for leave coverage and does not guarantee a permanent role.

The Ojo Caliente Security Guard shall protect OSR property, employees, and guests by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This role involves patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance systems, responding to security incidents, assisting guests and employees, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This role requires excellent situational awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle security concerns with professionalism and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports & Logs

a. Prepare daily shift reports and maintain an activity log.

b. Write detailed incident reports and document security breaches or unusual activities.

c. Assist with scheduling and shift briefings.

Patrol & Monitoring

a. Conduct property patrols, including Adobe, Inn, Scotts, Casa Blanca, Farm Gates, Farm Sheds, RV Park, employee and guest parking, Round Barn, Yurts, and other areas as required.

b. Patrol OSR departmental areas such as landscaping, accounting, maintenance, administration, etc. as required.

c. Monitor security cameras and incoming/outgoing vehicle traffic.

d. Patrol bridge entrances and secure gates and doors.

Emergency Response & Assistance

a. Respond promptly to security calls, including noise complaints, unruly guests/employees, and medical/fire/EMS situations.

b. Maintain fire readiness and monitor for fire hazards.

c. Provide security escorts for accounting personnel and employees.

d. Assist guests and employees with lockouts, flat tires, and jump-starts.

Guest & Employee Services

a. Assist guests with blankets, pillows, firewood, lost items on trails, directions, campground assistance, and general inquiries.

b. Ensure guests checking out leave on time.

c. Walk employees to the parking lot when needed.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance

a. Conduct lighting inspections and report safety hazards.

b. Secure and patrol the spa and pools after closing, including locking spa gates and covering pools.

c. Assist with snow removal (shoveling walkways, applying salt).

d. Charge golf carts and turn on yurt heaters and spa pumps as required.

Administrative & Miscellaneous Duties

a. Train new hires on security protocols.

b. Handle package deliveries and unload project deliveries.

c. Monitor phone and radio communications.

d. Assist departments with camera searches and front desk closing.

e. Perform general tasks such as making breakroom coffee and collecting mail when the administrator is out.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School diploma or GED required.

2. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.

3. CPR/AED certification Required (or willing to obtain upon hire).

4. Strong observational and problem-solving skills.

5. High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment in handling sensitive situations.

6. Ability to remain fair, respectful, and impartial in all interactions.

7. Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and efficiently.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.

9. Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.

10. Must be proficient in basic computer use.

11. Physical ability to patrol large areas and respond quickly to incidents.

12. Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

13. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and push/pull/lift items weighing (PLEASE SPECIFY for example 40) pounds or more.

14. This role requires the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, auditory focus, and visual attention.
