Job Description - Temporary Special Education Teacher (AugustOctober)


Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered temporary Special Education Teacher (August-October) to provide pull-out and self-contained support to students with disabilities in a small-group setting. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator, believes in the potential of every learner, and is committed to equitable, inclusive education. This role involves case management, instructional planning, and direct support aligned to students' IEP goals and grade-level standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specially designed instruction through pull-out (targeted small group or 1:1) models.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, modify instruction, and implement accommodations to support student success in the least restrictive environment.
  • Use data to drive instruction and track student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Lead and participate in IEP meetings, including goal development, parent communication, and coordination of services.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that meets students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to paraeducators and support staff working with students on your caseload.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflection to improve practice.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and belief in the potential of every student.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with co-teaching, inclusive practices, and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools, progress monitoring systems, and assistive technology.
  • Experience working with a range of disabilities (e.g., SLD, OHI, ASD, ED).
