Job Description - Travel Histotechnologist Job

Step into a mission-critical role as a Travel Histotechnologist, based in Berlin, Vermont, where your meticulous craftsmanship will directly support patient care across diverse settings. In this assignment, your expertise will empower pathologists and clinicians to unlock precise diagnoses, inform treatment plans, and advance scientific understanding. Your work matters in tangible ways, from preparing tissues to guiding stains and special techniques, and your dedication helps ensure that every slide tells the patient’s story with clarity and confidence. For those drawn to meaningful impact, this is your opportunity to blend skilled artistry with clinical rigor in a region known for its rich history, vibrant communities, and abundant natural beauty. And when you’re ready to pause for breath, you’ll discover Vermont’s scenic treasures—from the tranquil shores around Lake Champlain to the rolling Green Mountains and the state’s renowned fall foliage—where small-town charm meets outdoor adventure.

Berlin, Vermont offers a compelling backdrop for a focused histology career. This central Vermont setting delivers the comforts of a close-knit community, convenient access to outdoor recreation, and a stable, supportive environment that respects work–life balance. The region invites exploration of local farms, farmers’ markets, cafes, and cultural events, while its proximity to larger hubs allows for occasional excursions to add variety to your professional experience. You’ll also have the opportunity to work in multiple locations across the U.S. through our travel program, expanding your professional network and exposing you to a spectrum of laboratory modalities, equipment, and workflows that sharpen your skills and broaden your career horizon.

As a Histotechnologist on assignment, you’ll own a range of critical responsibilities. You’ll prepare and process tissue specimens, perform embedding, microtomy, and staining (including routine and special stains) with meticulous attention to quality control and reproducibility. You’ll run and troubleshoot histology instruments, manage reagent inventories, and maintain precise documentation to ensure traceability and compliance with CLIA and CAP standards. You’ll participate in quality assurance reviews, assist with the validation of new protocols, and collaborate closely with pathologists to optimize diagnostic yield. Professional growth opportunities abound—from mastering advanced immunohistochemistry techniques to cross-training across allied laboratory disciplines—allowing you to expand your technical repertoire and leadership capabilities within the histology specialty. This role also includes the chance to contribute to process improvements, standard operating procedures, and best practices that elevate the efficiency and reliability of the lab.

Your compensation and benefits reflect a commitment to recognizing your expertise. Expect a competitive weekly pay range of $2,219 to $2,309, reflecting the value you bring to diverse laboratory environments. The program offers housing assistance to ease transition and relocation concerns, helping you settle into your new surroundings with less friction. We also provide potential extension opportunities, so you can continue to shape your career trajectory beyond an initial assignment if you and the host sites agree it’s a good fit. In addition, you’ll benefit from comprehensive support designed for traveling professionals: 24/7 assistance from a dedicated support team, trusted safety resources, and a streamlined onboarding experience that gets you productive quickly. Note that guaranteed hours are not guaranteed in this program, reflecting the flexible, assignment-based nature of travel healthcare; final schedules and hours will be confirmed during the hiring process. The start date is March 16, 2026, with assignments lasting for a series of weeks tailored to project needs and site availability.

Our company values are grounded in empowering staff, fostering career advancement, and nurturing a supportive, collaborative work environment. We believe your expertise should drive not only excellent patient care but also your own professional growth. You’ll find mentors and peers who celebrate problem-solving, encourage continual learning, and recognize your contributions through ongoing development opportunities. We’re dedicated to providing stability within a dynamic travel model, ensuring you have access to resources, clear expectations, and a culture that respects your professionalism and well-being.

If you’re ready to join a company that prioritizes your development and offers a meaningful, travel-rich experience in Histotechnology, we invite you to apply. This is your chance to elevate your practice, mentor others, and contribute to diagnostic excellence while exploring new corners of the country and enjoying Vermont’s unique charm. Embark on this journey with us, and together we’ll shape the future of histology care while you advance your career in a supportive, growth-focused environment.

Note: The hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary. Final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process. Start date: 03/16/2026. Duration: Weeks, with potential extensions based on project needs and performance. Weekly pay: $2,219-$2,309. Housing assistance, sign-on considerations, and a comprehensive support structure are included as part of the offering.
