Job Description - Travel Registered Nurse Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Job

Step into a pivotal role as a Registered Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health and Psychiatric care, where your expertise can transform lives in Wisconsin’s welcoming communities. Beginning 01/30/2026 for a multi-week assignment, you will join a dedicated behavioral health team committed to stabilizing crises, guiding recovery, and empowering patients navigating mental health challenges. In this setting, your clinical precision, compassionate presence, and collaborative spirit will help patients achieve safety, hope, and measurable progress. Beyond the patient room, Wisconsin’s natural beauty—glittering lakes, rolling woodlands, and small-town charm—offers daily inspiration. From peaceful mornings by tranquil waters to vibrant evenings exploring local art, cuisine, and outdoor recreation, the state provides a balanced backdrop for meaningful work and personal renewal.

Janesville and its surrounding communities offer an appealing, accessible environment for nurses who value a strong sense of community, opportunities for hands-on impact, and a balanced lifestyle. The city sits within reach of larger regional medical hubs while offering affordable housing, high-quality amenities, and schools that families appreciate. Working in this location means collaborative multidisciplinary teams, supportive leadership, and the chance to build lasting relationships with patients and colleagues alike. For nurses who crave variety or flexibility, this role also opens the door to opportunities across multiple sites in the U.S., allowing you to broaden your clinical experience while maintaining a core focus on psychiatric care. You’ll benefit from exposure to diverse patient populations, facility cultures, and care models, all while enjoying the stability of a guaranteed minimum weekly schedule.

In this role, you’ll lead and support comprehensive psychiatric nursing activities aligned with best practices in behavioral health. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting thorough mental status assessments, implementing and refining crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies, administering prescribed medications with meticulous attention to policy and safety, and monitoring for adverse effects. You’ll perform risk assessments, coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and case managers, and actively participate in treatment planning and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Documentation in electronic health records will be precise and timely, reflecting patient progress and informing ongoing care decisions. You’ll also have opportunities for professional growth, including pursuing specialty certifications in trauma-informed care or psychopharmacology, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and potentially taking on precepting responsibilities to support newer team members. The position is designed to reward you for excellence with a competitive benefits package, including a bonus component, housing assistance, and clear extension opportunities to align with your long-term career goals. You’ll be supported by a robust framework of resources, including 24/7 assistance from a dedicated travel support team, on-call clinical liaison support, and a seamless onboarding process to help you transition smoothly into your assignments.

Our company values and culture center on empowering nurses to own their career journey while fostering a collaborative, respectful, and patient-centered work environment. We are committed to your professional development, offering mentorship, ongoing education, and structured pathways to advance within behavioral health specialties. You’ll find a workplace where curiosity is encouraged, resilience is recognized, and teamwork drives outcomes—for both patients and colleagues. The emphasis is on sustainable growth, meaningful impact, and a supportive community that values your contributions as essential to high-quality psychiatric care.

If you’re ready to explore a rewarding opportunity that aligns with your clinical passions and your desire to make a tangible difference, this role invites you to apply and join a forward-thinking organization that prioritizes your development and well-being. Start date: 01/30/2026. Duration: Weeks. Weekly pay: 2,008–2,175. Guaranteed hours: 36.0 per week. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, a competitive bonus program, housing assistance, and the potential for contract extensions to extend your impact across new assignments. Hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary; final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process.
