As a Med Surg RN, you’ll own a broad spectrum of responsibilities that build your leadership, clinical judgment, and discharge planning skills. You’ll assess patient stability and evolving needs, administer medications and infusions, manage IV therapies, monitor post-surgical and medical patients, and implement wound care and infection control best practices. You’ll coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and social work to ensure smooth transitions from acute care to home or a higher level of support. Documentation, patient education, and family communication will be integral, as will participation in rounds and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
