US English Short-Term Leave Replacement (American Lit, Electives)

Colorado Academy seeks a full-time English teaching candidate to cover a leave of absence from Monday, September 8 to Friday, December 19 in the 2025-2026 school year. The position begins early in trimester one and concludes at the start of winter break. It includes two sections of tenth grade American Literature, and two electives open to eleventh and twelfth graders: Literature of Work, which will conclude with the end of trimester one on November 6, and Poetry Writing, which will begin on November 10, the first day of trimester two. 

Candidates should have experience, training, and/or a demonstrated interest in teaching English in a student-centered classroom at the secondary school level. Candidates should be interested in working on a team with other teachers as well as working independently to design curriculum and evaluate student work.

Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm. Additionally, candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the school community and take on other duties as assigned. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence, which we define as the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences, is a must.

As with all CA teachers, we ask that our short-term leave replacement English teacher carry out the CA Mission–"Creating Curious, Kind, Courageous, and Adventurous Learners and Leaders"--and support the vision of the Upper School.

The pay for the full-time equivalent of this position is $63,200 - $113,900, actual compensation will be prorated based on time commitment. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
