Youth Sports Official = Flag Football

Season Dates: March 3rd - April 18th
Pay: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour. All grades get x2 pay for all games reffed alone

Location: In person at City of Alton fields and affiliated locations

Position Overview

The Flag Football Referee ensures safe, fair, and fun play by enforcing youth flag football rules and maintaining control of games. Referees promote sportsmanship, respect, and a positive experience for players, coaches, and spectators.

Schedule

• Most games are held on weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
  


• Officiate youth flag football games, enforcing rules consistently and respectfully.


• Communicate clearly with players, coaches, and spectators.


• Monitor gameplay and field conditions to ensure player safety.


• Arrive prepared for assigned games.
  


• Promote sportsmanship and positive play.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old (14 or 15 with a valid work permit)


• Previous experience in playing or officiating football or other organized sports is preferred.


• Knowledge of youth football rules.


• Ability to work independently and remain composed under pressure.
