Job Description - Accounting Systems Analyst

Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing financial operations support. The Associate Administrative Analyst – Accounting Systems – position is responsible for the research, design, development, and implementation of new accounting systems, including those that compliment or interface with Fi$CAL. This includes the development and design of custom reports, web-based applications and content, and other financial information delivery efforts. The incumbent works under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I Supervisor. Additional Benefits of working at CDPH include:

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


  • Experience with FI$Cal Chart of Accounts, SpeedCharts, Employee Master File Database and cost tables.
  • Experience in reviewing coding requests, providing recommendations for management to make approval decisions.
  • Ability to assist management in preparing year-end closing and new year start-up schedules and monitoring financial activities.
