Job Description - Budget Management Analyst III

The Prince George's County Government's Office of Central Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Budget Management Analyst III position (Budget Management Analyst 3G), grade G27 within its Office of the Director Division. About the Position: This position provides senior professional level administrative staff work in all phases of budgetary development and administrative or management analysis projects. The position manages the Office of Central Service Director's Office, Land Acquisition and Real Property (LARP), Grants, and Capital Improvement Projects Division's 26 million operating budgets: and 8.6 million Capital Improvement Project budget. “The incumbent treats all matters as strictly confidential. What You'll Do:

  • Compiles, evaluates and publishes preliminary budget estimates.
  • Monitors and evaluates the budget for various funds.

  • Reviews all expenditure requests for compliance with program objectives.

  • Collects and reports on operating information as it relates to development of budget estimates/projections.

  • Maintains, updates various associated documents and facilitate payments for invoices within a database to monitor fiscal year expenditures.

  • Collaborates with division staff to monitor contracts, and task order documents to provide vendor payments as well as feedback on vendor performance.

  • Approves and monitors financial expenditures daily.

  • Oversees all accounts payable functions.

  • Develops vendor performance review schedules.

  • Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.

Qualifications What You'll Need :
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business/Public Management, Finance, Economics, Quantitative Analyses, or closely related field; plus
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative and budgeting experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience is also accepted. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in the government sector developing and preparing budgets for departments, divisions and sections.

  • Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Planning and conducting research; writing and editing management and analytical reports and budget materials and speaking before groups of public officials.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

The incumbent in this position is considered an "Essential" employee and may be required to report to work during natural or manmade disasters, and during special operations/activities as assigned. Please note that "Essential" employees are expected to report or remain at work when other employees are granted Administrative Leave.
