Job Description - Cloud Engineer

HealthCare Associates Credit Union (a $460M credit union based out of Naperville, IL) is seeking a dedicated Cloud Engineer who is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our multi-cloud infrastructure to support a range of business applications and services. This role will act as a key player in ensuring our cloud environments are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance. It requires a deep understanding of various cloud platforms, the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, and the flexibility to work across multiple technologies and tools.

Responsibilities:

Information Technologies Support:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud resources, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Implement and monitor security best practices, compliance standards, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud services.
  • Design, deploy, and support cloud technologies including, but not limited to, Azure, RingCentral, Jira, Confluence, M365, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, and Intune
  • Develop cloud architecture and designs to meet the organization's business needs, taking into account scalability, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate cloud services with other on-premises and cloud systems, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Monitor cloud resources, analyze performance, and implement optimization strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Create and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to streamline deployment and management processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex IT issues and provide 24/7 support when necessary.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical architectural Visio drawings, and best practices.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members and cross-functional teams on cloud-related technologies.
  • Provide Level 3 technical support to end-users, diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, and ensure a high level of member satisfaction.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Use ITSM software (Jira) and tools to collect agreed performance statistics and to ensure that appropriate action is taken to investigate and resolve incidents in systems and service.
  • Participate on projects with a focus on smoothing the transition from development staff (Senior Network Administrators, Analysts, Management, etc.) to production staff (end-users) by performing quality testing, documentation, and cross-training within the project life-cycle.

Banking Systems Administration

  • Maintain and administer banking application environments, including but not limited to Symitar Episys, iPay Bill Pay, Vertifi DeposZip, Microdynamics Group/OSG eStatements, Alkami ORB (online relationship builder), MeridianLink's XpressAccounts, DocuSign, CUNA Mutual LoanLiner, and SWBC EasyPay.
  • Fully vet with quality assurance testing updates, patches, and new releases for banking applications including formal documentation of QA checklists and release summaries for staff.
  • Identify and resolve issues with applications, automated tools, network scripts and group policies.
  • Create, change, and remove third-party security access for end-users as requested by management.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of software related procedures and standards.

Development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and DevOps engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on Azure-related matters.
  • Offer business process recommendations to IT management on effective usage of systems and technologies to utilize their fullest potential.
  • Participate on project implementations including requirements gathering, validation, beta testing, user acceptance performance, deployment, and project closing debrief.
  • Contribute to project plans, schedules and track and report project statuses.
  • Assist in communicating and documenting requirements of projects with departments, programmers, networking team, and vendors in a clear and organized fashion.
  • Act as liaison between department end-users, analysts, networking team, and consultants in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of systems and processes to ensure optimal operational performance.

Other

  • Provide input for annual budget.
  • Act as a backup to fellow Information Technology staff.
  • Improve technical expertise through training while ensuring up to date knowledge in current interactive technologies, development trends, strategies, products, and best practices.
  • Actively engage in learning opportunities that will improve over-all knowledge of the Credit Union Industry and HACU's current products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or Cloud Architect.
  • Knowledge of Azure, RingCentral, Jira, Confluence, M365, Intune, and FortiCloud preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Terraform).
