Job Description - Director of Financial Aid

The Director of Financial Aid manages the Campus’s Campus Financial Aid Department and ensures the department meets its goal of assisting Arizona College students in all aspects of the new student financial aid process and ensuring the school receives financial aid funds in a timely fashion.

 

  • Counsel students to determine their eligibility for Title IV funding, institutional loans, agency assistance, Federal Work study, and scholarships drawing on skills and experience.
  • Help new students obtain all federal aid they may qualify for while ensuring the department is complying with federal Title IV guidelines.
  • Assist with the administration, compliance, and reconciliation of federal, state and institutional financial aid programs.
  • Independently develop and disseminate financial aid information through presentations, workshops, and publications both on and off-campus.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director, Enrollment Services (EDES) and Regional Director, Financial Aid (RDFA) to increase efficiencies withing the Campus Financial Aid Department.
  • Provide sensitive and confidential financial aid counseling regarding aid options available to students and families.
  • Monitor the awarding of financial aid to students and ensure awarding on all new students is accurate and that corrections directed by the quality assurance team are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the privacy of student data.
  • Answer questions and provides support to students via email, telephone, and various other communication methods.
  • Counsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations.
  • Manage the new student Financial Aid process, meeting benchmarks and time-based milestones.
  • Hire and supervise Financial Aid Officers.
  • Manage direct reports including conducting 1:1s, Quarterly Check-Ins, Performance Management, and offering Training and Development.

Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Three years’ experience in Title IV aid administration preferably in management or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Minimum one year direct supervisory experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • High degree of professionalism and discretion dealing with confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
