Serving a population of over 78,000 citizens, with a landmass of 345 square miles and containing vital national assets such as Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and associated federal, state, and local government installations. Providing both 911 and convalescent services in a separate system design. We are a station-based service, using posting move-ups in low unit availability situations. We respond to a combined 19,500+ calls a year, operating six 24-hour ALS units, one 12-hour ALS unit, and five BLS/convalescent units.

Anderson County EMS offers both 9-hour shift, 12-hour, and 14-hour shift rotations. An assignment is based on availability and need.
Additional Opportunities :
Anderson County EMS has additional opportunities offered to staff. We participate in the regional strike team and have deployed units to Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina for disaster relief. PR events for football games and other standby events occur throughout the year. Staff is offered opportunities to work on TV show sets, participating as actors and extras, and medical support behind the scenes on TV sets.
Advancement opportunities are offered, we teach AEMT in-house. Progression to an ALS 24/72 schedule is based on licensure level and seniority, ALS units are preferably staffed with an AEMT and paramedic. The ability to pick up overtime shifts on ALS units is approved, and in some situations, EMTBs can attend 911 patients to the emergency room.
