Job Description - Junior Accountant - Payables/Payroll Specialist

To further the building of the Kingdom of God through The Salvation Army through oversight of Corporate Credit Card activity for the Neosa Division.

 

As an integral part of the Finance Department team the Accounting Clerk is directly responsible to the Divisional Fiscal Director and must be able to schedule and perform designated responsibilities with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (this listing is not intended to be exhaustive, but to highlight the primary responsibilities and duties)

    1. Approve Corporate Credit Card transactions for all the Divisional and Cams cardholders in the Smart Data system.
    2. Maintain communication with the Financial Secretary and Assistant Finance Director related to items over $200.00 to seek their approval on these expenditures.
    3. Communicate with cardholders any concerns related to the credit card details in Smart data.
    4. Maintain logs for all Cams cardholders of audit concerns to be provided to the divisional auditors when needed.
    5. Monitor compliance to the corporate credit policy for the Neosa Division.
    6. Develop well rounded knowledge of the Salvation Army Accounting minutes to ensure compliance is being maintained.
    7. Provide the Cams Accounting staff with reports needed monthly related to the corporate credit cards.
    8. Print monthly statements and upload to corps share folders.
    9. Communicate with the field on the monthly transfer of funds related to the credit card expenditures.
    10. Distribute the credit card applications and policies to potential new cardholders upon the request of the Financial Secretary or Assistant Director of Finance.
    11. Maintain yearly policies from all cardholders.
    12. Setup and maintain coding structure of the cardholders in the Smart data system.
    13. Prepare and Analyze reconciliations between divisional accounting records and corps accounting records at fiscal year-end.
    14. Perform all Payroll Accounting in Serenic
    15. Process all Payroll banking
    16. Process 1 Payroll weekly or biweekly at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Finance.
    17. Understand the general duties of the following positions to be prepared to fill in during peak periods of vacations/illnesses:
      1. Accounts Receivable
      2. Accounting Clerk – Service Units .
    18. Any other reasonable duty as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE .

Associates degree in Accounting (or related field)

Proficient skill in Excel and other Microsoft Office software

Knowledge of computerized accounting software packages

Schedule and perform designated responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Ability to process detailed data with maximum accuracy.
