Job Description - Land Finance Analyst

Description

The Land Finance Analyst is responsible for creating/reviewing prospective new land proformas, maintaining land development budgets with the Director of Land Development and updating lot chargeouts. Additionally, they will assist with month end accounting closing tasks leading to financial statement creation. This job operates in a professional office environment.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Land Acquisition department to create proformas for potential new land deals showing gross margins, IRR, community P&L and community cash flow statements 
  • Proformas will be created and updated at different milestones of community – notice to proceed, prior to first land/lot closings, at community grand opening
  • Review, gain approval and process land development bills
  • Track and execute land/lot takedowns per contract documents
  • Assist in document preparation for land takedown requirements with banks
  • Record Land Purchases
  • Assist Land Development team in initial data entry and quarterly review of land development budget for all projects
  • Quarterly review/update of land development budgets and adjustment of each respective lot chargeouts
  • Assist in month end financial closing as needed
  • Support finance team in various capacities when needed
  • Facilitate the system setup procedures for new land vendors and community integration.
  • Create Land reporting to identify pro-forma variance analysis against original assumptions and work on strategies for performance improvement
  • Lead cash flow strategy meetings regarding land acquisition and development
  • Track and monitor outstanding surety updates, process weekly bank inspections

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Finance background is a plus.
  • Homebuilding or land development experience is a plus, but not required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment  such as computers, phones, photocopiers, electronic stamp machines, and online systems. Must exercise initiative and meet objectives with minimal supervision.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

TRAVEL

No travel is expected for this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, Finance or Accounting
  • Finance or Accounting work experience strongly preferred
  • Homebuilding industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
