As the Legislative Assistant, in the Government Affairs organization, you will be responsible for advocacy and research support working with the State and Federal team. The successful candidate will gain significant exposure to and ownership of legislation, advocacy, trade association work, and political engagement. In addition to, exposure to opportunities for career development and continuous learning. This role is integral to the success of the Government Affairs team to build the narrative and facts to engage and advocate before policymakers at the state and federal levels.
You are
You have
A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Business or a related field or equivalent experience; MPP or JD is a bonus.
Two+ years of relevant experience
A robust understanding of government processes
Excellent interpersonal skills
Flexible and strong teammate
Careful attention to detail and strong follow through
Accountability to meet deadlines
Ability to prioritize and shift between tasks and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong research capabilities with organizational and analytical skills

You will
Work, virtually, with Government Affairs colleagues to identify public policy issues and their impact on policyholders and the company
Research and create background documents for senior management: policy updates, talking points, biographies, one-pagers, and other original material
Help to develop policy recommendations on priority federal and state issues
Monitor executive, legislative and regulatory actions
Create and update tracking documents
Manage issues independently with growing complexity and expanded responsibility
Attend industry and government meetings (virtual and/or in-person as required)
Provide summaries of meetings and events
Assist in policy-based research and other writing assignments as assignes
Occasional administrative support
Location
Flexible. Virtual or Hub Office
Up to 10% travel within US.

Salary Range
$55,570.00 - $92,610.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
