Job Description - National Account Director

National Account Director This position will be responsible for representing Madrigal with National Payers and/or PBM’s. Specifically, Aetna, Elevance Health, and Federal Employee Plans.  This includes interacting with all levels of national payers, including but not limited to, C-Level, Medical Directors, Quality Management, Population Health, GI, Hepatology, and formulary committee departments. National Account Directors will report to the Executive Director, Market Access, National Accounts. This role will support pull-through efforts with the Market Access, Regional Account Managers and collaborate across the organization, including but not limited to, Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Insights and Analytics, Patient Support, Regional Account Manager(s) Team, and Key Account Manager(s). Position Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of NASH disease state, resmetirom clinical data, and commercialization strategy.
  • Develop both short and long-term tactical plans to optimize resmetirom coverage using value propositions, HEOR, and aligned MSL support.
  • Work with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, and HEOR to ensure development of compliant, impactful, and up-to-date payer customer-facing materials.
  • Become a knowledge broker with internal stakeholders to grow market access acumen and understanding across Madrigal.
  • Conduct business with the highest compliance and integrity standards, in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Leverage and champion core market access resources and sales planning tools.
  • Demonstrate leading from the front mentality while engaging directly with assigned downstream and national accounts across pharmacy, medical, quality, and health economics departments.
  • Work closely with local Sales, RAM, and KAM team members to ensure focus on opportunities for account pull-through while mitigating payer obstacles.
  • Engage with Patient Support to foster shared and timely communications regarding coverage challenges and/or trends.
  • Support the development of quarterly updates on national account performance, as well as proposed tactics to ensure that tracked KPIs are met and exceeded.
  • Review and correct formulary information monthly that will be disseminated to key internal team members.
  • Be an active participant in an engaging, performance-based culture that motivates the team to exceed expectations.
  • Expect to spend ~70% of work time dedicated to managing assigned national accounts and ~30% involved in support to operationalize national account business.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
  • 1-2 years of market access account experience (preferred with national accounts)
  • 2-3 years of regional market access account experience
  • Expert level of knowledge of reimbursement and market access strategies as well as the US payer landscape
  • Deep customer relationships with payers
  • Solid launch experience within market access
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent executive presence and presentation skills
  • Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders, with an ability to influence greater outcomes
  • Excellence in MS Office products including PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Excel
  • Excitement about the vision and mission of Madrigal
Compensation:
  • The expected annual base salary range for this role is between $200,000-265,000.  Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
