ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this position are principally to facilitate, educate and communicate to patients Virginia Mason Medical Center's revenue cycle policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to patient inquiries/complaints regarding all billing aspects of a hospital based medical facility as well as maximizing reimbursement of self pay receivables via payment schedules, assessment for in-house charity programs or eligibility for state-sponsored insurance plans. This position will proficiently perform duties as outlined below in one of the following areas: Patient Account Specialist or Patient Service Specialist.

We require:
Proven excellent customer service, communication, verbal and written skills with an emphasis on organization and attention to detail
Ability to problem solve and multi-task; keep confidences
Knowledge of insurance concepts
Demonstrated basic telephone skills (transfer, conference, placing a patient on hold)
Excel in a team based environment with a positive attitude
Comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to be flexible.
Preferred:
High School diploma or GED
6 months previous call center, health care experience and medical terminology
