Job Description - Payroll Accountant

What will you be doing at XGS?

  • Responsible for ensuring weekly and biweekly payroll accuracy, including employee bonus programs, expense reimbursements, and PTO
  • Establish working relationships with Payroll Vendor, Internal Customers, and Departmental Partners
  • Responsible for all payroll related items including withholdings, deductions, amendments, and W2’s
  • Must have the ability to answer most questions and accomplish most tasks with limited guidance needed
  • Good understanding of departmental priorities, workflow, and guidelines
  • Knowledge and ability to solve problems that are usually apparent but precise identification of the nature of the problem requires further investigation using standard procedures or well-established processes for troubleshooting
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team environment
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Develops and implements payroll procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency
  • Audit and monitor hourly employee timecards
  • Ensure all required state and local agency accounts are active, filings are complete, and any exceptions or notices are resolved timely
  • Provide training and guidance to employees, answering questions, researching, and resolving payroll issues timely and accurately
  • Assist with payroll related reporting to Leadership team
  • Assist with annual data requests from various audits
  • Ensures payroll statements and reports are audited and reviewed regularly
  • Performs other duties as assigned

We are looking for ideal candidates with..

  • Knowledge of Paylocity or comparable payroll platform
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word
  • 5- 7 years’ experience in a multi-state payroll environment
  • Desire to grow into supervisory capacity
  • High level of integrity and professionalism

ENVIRONMENT

 

Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in all areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, must be careful while performing onsite services.
