Accountant/Project Accountant

Overview: Job Summary:
As an Experienced Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in our team, assisting the Controller in accurately and promptly reporting revenue recognition and monthly financials within our professional services environment. Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Revenue Recognition and Project Accounting:
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition for fixed fee projects during month-end.
- Act as the primary liaison for project managers, providing project accounting updates and insights.
- Review Statements of Work for proper project setup.
- Maintain comprehensive financial tracking by setting up projects in our system (NetSuite).
- Analyze project financials and communicate variances to management.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 standards for project financials.
- Audit and reconcile contract assets and liabilities on a project basis.
- Facilitate time and expense reviews, ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Maintain service items and revenue arrangements as needed. General Accounting:
- Prepare journal entries with meticulous supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with the Controller to document and improve accounting processes.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing requested information.
- Aid in preparing financial reports for internal use, parent companies, or auditors.
- Propose policy or procedure changes to enhance financial reporting.
- Act as a backup for journal entries and other miscellaneous approvals.
- Provide support to other team members as needed. Cash Receipts and Bank Deposits:
- Serve as a backup for processing deposits and cash receipts. Financial Audits:
- Assist in gathering financial data for internal and external audits.
- Ensure organized documentation is readily available for auditors. Confidentiality & Ad Hoc Duties:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information.
- Support the Controller in special finance and accounting projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance team and company operations. Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in project cost accounting and finance.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and accounting software.
- Advanced expertise in MS Excel.
- Experience with NetSuite preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information ethically.
- Willingness to comply with financial regulations.
- Experience with government contracting organizations is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and insurance.
- Must meet eligibility requirements for government security investigations. Working Environment:
