Staff Accountant

Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: North Houston (Spring area)
About Us: Growing Maritime Services company north Houston is looking for a Staff Accountant to help support the team on a project basis.
Job Description:
As a Staff Accountant you will play a crucial role in our finance team, focusing on reconciliations and month-end close entries. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct reconciliations of bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform month-end close entries, including accruals, amortization entries, and other adjusting journal entries as necessary.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
• Support the Controller in audit preparations and liaise with auditors during audit processes.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed.
• Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings.
• Provide support in ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or related field.
• Strong understanding of reconciliations and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hybrid position (3 in office, 2 flex)
• Offering $30-35/hr depending on experience
