Hourly Range: $23.00

Position Summary:

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Full-time Accounts Payable Specialist for our Finance Department in the town of South Park, Seattle. The Accounting Clerk – AP performs the accounts payable function and a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Update and maintain accounts payable sub-ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., check requests for expense reimbursement, trade payables, vendor statement reconciliation).
  • Enter data into computer system using automated and integrated accounting software, according to established procedures. 
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers.
  • Process timely check runs. 
  • Maintain AP files.
  • Audit all vendor statements for past balance due and correct billing.

Qualifications:

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Accurate with attention to detail, ability to multi-task, highly organized.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and process improvement.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment.
  • Team player and open communicator.
  • Common sense.
  • Analytical and self-motivated toward continuous improvement.
  • Through understanding of accounting principles relating to AP.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents, reports and data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with staff.
  • Exercises sound spelling, grammar and clear written communication.

Mathematical and Technical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. 
  • Must be able to effectively utilize standard office equipment.
  • Must have excellent data entry skills, 10-key by touch.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists is required. 
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Education and/or Experience:

  • AA degree in accounting.
  • Accounts payable experience in a mid-size to large organization.
  • Three to five years’ experience may be substituted for formal education with at least 3 years’ experience in accounts payable.
  • Experience with automated accounting software (SAGE desired).
  • Experience with electronic 3 way match in a fully automated accounting package.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete a pre-hire annual employee health and annual TB test screening.
  • Annual influenza vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all time during the flu season.
  • TB testing annually required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or possess a COVID vaccine exemption.
