The New England School of Communications is looking for a part-time adjunct
faculty member to teach Photography within the BS Video/Film Production (Bangor
campus) degree program. VF 245/FA 110 Photography meets once per week in a
face to face format on the Bangor Campus. This opening is during the Fall 2024
semester (8/26/24-12/13/24) VF 245 Photography I centers on a method known as Straight Photography. This
approach grew in popularity at the beginning of the 20th Century; a variety of artists
established and strengthened the medium as an art form. Through lectures and
hands-on learning, students are provided with the basic understanding of how to
operate a still single-lens reflex camera. Other topics include lens selection, lighting,
color temperature, and the digital darkroom. Technology does not define this course.
Cameras and software function as tools just like a canvas and brush is to a painter.
Students are encouraged to develop a personal, expressive style in addition to
mastering a range of practical photographic techniques in assembling a cohesive,
meaningful, exhibition-quality portfolio. There are six projects designed to enhance
your critical thinking skills, as well as help you discover your own unique approach to
photography.Examples of Duties
• Provide students proper instruction with content, and utilize text books required for
this course to achieve programmatic objectives
• Accurately track and assess student progress and maintain Husson University
standards
• Advising the Academic Director on proposed curricular changes
• Assisting the department in experiential assessments & exercises where
appropriate
• Assist in the research and assessment of industry trends and future technologies
concerning curriculum
• Additional Responsibilities:
o Gathering data and preparing detailed documents
o Representing the School off campus when appropriate
o Serving on committees, as appropriate
o Performing other duties as assigned by the administration
Education: Masters Degree Required. MFA or other terminal degree preferred.
Experience: At least 1-3 years of work experience in related field.
College level teaching experience preferred. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met

Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared $1,100.00 maximum per credit hour*
