Position Vacancy Announcement Florida A&M University's School of Graduate Studies, Research, and Continuing Education is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Faculty Administrator/Assistant Dean vacancy. This is a 12-month faculty position. Responsibilities

The Assistant Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Research, and Continuing Education (SGSRC) will work directly with the Dean to support the school's mission of working collaboratively with all academic units to educate and train future scholars, teachers, researchers, and professionals; Assists in cultivating collaborative relationships with funding agencies, including government, industry, private foundations, and other institutions that support research and innovation; The Assistant Dean will establish strategic initiatives in developing, implementing, and updating operating procedures related to recruitment, admissions, enrollment, retention, administrative, and financial affairs; Also, the Assistant Dean is responsible for developing and implementing fundraising activities; Responsible for working with different stakeholders such as student groups, alums, parents, and other advocacy groups to provide for the personal and academic needs of the graduate student population.

Plans, develops and oversees communications and events that promote the goals of the SGSRC, including Outreach, Community Relations, and Development; Represents SGSRC on university and state-wide committees, meetings, and conferences as appropriate; Attends faculty Senate and other standing University meetings as needed; Monitors graduate student progression to degree completion and analyze for trends in student success; Contributes to overall office operations and assessment; and participates in regular staff meetings and work in support of others in the SGSRC; Develops, updates, and implements comprehensive graduate student recruitment, admission, and enrollment strategies to attract highly qualified graduate students to meet Graduate School enrollment targets; Assists in the updating, creation, and implementation of policy, procedure, and best practices of our graduate programs; and Oversees marketing strategies in collaboration with academic units and other relevant offices to manage the website, media platforms, and print publications.

Develops college-wide efforts around faculty professional development and mentoring; In collaboration with the Deans and Chairs of the departments and the Office of the Provost, provide support for developing and implementing new graduate academic programs and revising existing programs; Supports Graduate Student success in Master's and Doctoral degree programs; Responsible for upkeep and updating the SGSRC website, forms, and graduate policies handbook; Leads the collaboration with graduate students, staff, faculty and other academic units in the development, implementation and updating professional development opportunities for graduate students; and Oversees graduate student orientation in collaboration with staff to make sure current workshops are updated and meet the needs of the student.

Collaborates with the Director of Continuing Education to carry out its mandates; Works with the Graduate Feeder Scholars Program Liaison to identify and recruit additional partnering schools; Assists in identifying new, innovative developmental workshops that will prepare the Graduate Feeder Scholars for the rigors of graduate study; Collaborates with the Undergraduate Research Office to reestablish the Annual Graduate Research Conference; Plans, develops, and oversees implementations of SGSRC fundraising activities to contribute to an attractive financial aid package for graduate students; and works with the Dean in collaboration with internal and external partners on funding opportunities for graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level : Terminal Degree; At least five years of academic, administrative, and leadership experience at the university level; and graduate level administration, grantsmanship and fundraising experience preferred.

Recommended Competencies

Experience in curriculum and course assessment;

Student recruitment experience especially at the graduate level;

Demonstrated skills in organizational innovation and management;

Experience with data collection and management;

Strong record of research and publication;

Proven success as a skilled educator;

Experience in fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives;

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);

Ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, students, and staff;

Demonstrated excellence in graduate education and mentorship;

Demonstrated ability to adapt to new challenges and opportunities; and

Previous leadership experience in a research setting and/or graduate education.

Anticipated Salary Range Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000 depending on experience. Pay Plan This is a Faculty position. Conditions of Employment Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
