Job Description - Assistant Director of Co-Op Operations

Assistant Director of Co-Op Operations About the Opportunity JOB SUMMARY Candidate must have strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and complete tasks for several different people. Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a requirement. Experience working within a diverse staff and student population with a demonstrated commitment to achieving and maintaining diversity within the workplace. Proficiency in computer/technology and information maintenance, and strong organizational skills are required. Knowledge and appreciation of cooperative education and its impact on an individual's career development. The Candidate will need to be able to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced and diverse environment. A bachelor's degree with 2-3 years' experience in a similar administrative or project management role is required. Familiarity with social media campaigns and social media platforms. Ability to work within Microsoft Office Suite-using tools like Excel, Adobe, and Teams. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Northeastern University is a global leader in experiential learning and cooperative education in which students alternate between academic study and work experiences. The College of Arts Media and Design (CAMD) is seeking an Assistant Director of Co-Op to work with its co-op faculty and students. Reporting to the Director of Cooperative Education; the Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects, information management, and overall operations for the team. This role will be hybrid. This individual will also be overseeing the planning of co-op events, overseeing Co-Op communications with students, and enhancing the engagement with students on campus. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES Information Management & Department Operations 70% Support Faculty Co-op Coordinators in the day-to-day workflow and effective operation of the co-op program.

  • Maintain relevant information repositories, compiling and analyzing information and reports. Provide tracking support of placement and employer information for the department on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate efforts to maintain the completeness and integrity of information in various co-op systems. Work with coordinators for accuracy of student and employer tracking information and clean-up, including monitoring and supporting fixing job postings and student placements within NuWorks platform.
  • Oversee and communicate Registrar policies, academic calendar, co-op deadlines.
  • Oversee additions and edits to the CAMD Co-Op calendar, which transparently notes the college's co-op operations, pertinent academic calendar information and deadlines, student deadlines, and coordinator action items.
  • Assign Patterns of Attendance for students in co-op prep class and assign coordinators to student accounts in NUworks.
  • Update student statuses in NUworks on an on-going basis
  • Oversee tracking the completion of unique co-op placement to-dos for international students (CPT, SSN) and global placements (GEO application, visa, university funding).
  • Attend regular university-wide co-op committee meetings on information quality with a CAMD Co-Op coordinator and follow up on CAMD Co-Op needs.
  • Manage the weekly in office schedule for the Co-Op team and space reservations.
  • Collaborate with other colleges' operations staff to assist in streamlining operations across the co-op division.




Events & Communication 15%


Assist with department projects and initiatives-helping to plan events and coordinate outreach to students, employers, alumni and faculty for attendance.

  • Develop communication materials for students and employers as part of events.
  • Assist with the development and administration of surveys, update/manage content on co-op websites and LinkedIn groups, utilize Banner, create forms and analyze information through google apps, Microsoft excel, and other applications.
  • Manage CAMD Co-Op Social Media accounts with regular engagement with students and employers as well as advertising CO-OP events and projects.
  • Provide support for college job development efforts in terms of outreach for events and industry focused outreach campaigns. As part of this, assist with conducting industry and market research to help students maximize their competitiveness in an ever-changing marketplace.
  • Monitor CAMD Coop inbox and respond to any inquiries on a regular basis.




Student Management 10%

  • Oversee the hiring and supervision of work study and TAs as needed for the department.
