Job Description - Assistant Director of Radiology Operations

The Assistant Director of Radiology Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Radiology Department. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Ensures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating and adhering to departmental budgets.

It is incumbent upon the Assistant Director of Radiology Operations to inform, advise and support their direct report AVP on all issues pertaining to all imaging modalities as well as Interventional Radiology.

 

Works with hospital administration on planning, organizing and directing Imaging Services operations, and compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Makes daily rounds in Imaging Services to judge effectiveness of operation, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere. Secures inventory and supplies which are required to carry out effective patient care and creates an optimal physical environment. Active participant in hospital committees, when a representative of Radiology is required.

 

Works with AVP to establish salary and supply (OTS) budgets in all areas of Radiology. Manages the responsibilities of the Imaging Services personnel. Directs and participates in the human resources management function for the department by coordinating the selection, promotion, orientation, competencies and performance appraisal processes. Establishes and maintains standards of performance.

Coaches, counsels, and corrects performance of staff with Performance Correction Notices as required. Coordinates the department’s in-service training. Promotes effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships. Initiates, interprets, and enforces Imaging Services operational procedures and maintains and interprets hospital policies and procedures.

 

Responsible for leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals. Creates schedules of assigned coverage for the different areas of the department and approves payroll timekeeping. Makes daily assessments of personnel levels needed to maintain quality assurance techniques and standards. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, patients, and staff. Trains staff in overall operation of department and use of equipment. Maintains the highest degree of clinical/operational performance and customer service in Diagnostic Imaging Services. Demonstrates a commitment of quality service to our patients and their families, their physician, and our associates. Assumes other responsibilities when assigned. May function as a staff technologist in modality trained in.

 


• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Graduate of an approved school for Radiologic Technology.
• New York State License in Radiologic Technology (RT).
• Registered by American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT)
• Three years of experience as Radiology Technologist.
• Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in writing, using advanced writing skills.
• Proven ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
