ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Assistant Chancellor for Finance/CFO plays a vital role in advancing the financial health and sustainability of UW-Green Bay and supporting the mission of access, student success, and community engagement. This position will serve as a visionary leader with a deep understanding of finance, a commitment to UW-Green Bay's strategic priorities, and a dedication to fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, fiscal responsibility, and entrepreneurship.

The Assistant Chancellor will be integral in continuing the current trajectory of the University.

Reporting directly to the Chancellor as a member of the University Cabinet, the Assistant Chancellor is responsible for leading all aspects of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and fiscal compliance. Areas of oversight include Budget, Controller's Office (Accounting, Procurement, and Student Billing), and the University Union. The Assistant Chancellor serves as the major fiscal steward of the University and ensures fiscal integrity of all University assets. Financial modeling and forecasting will be critical elements of the role, related to assessments of internal and external factors that impact revenues and expenses.

The Assistant Chancellor will collaborate with the Chancellor and other leadership to direct and oversee financial activities and controls of the University. They will foster strategic thinking, creativity, and collaborative approaches to advance the financial health of the institution. The Assistant Chancellor will be steadfast in their understanding and advocacy for strong financial governance, be entrepreneurial, a clear communicator, and demonstrate exceptional financial, strategic, and interpersonal skills.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive and forward-thinking financial strategies and policies aligned with the institution's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and long-term financial planning initiatives, championing forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into UW-Green Bay's operations and business plans.
  • Oversee the financial management and reporting of the institution and provide data-driven processes to support innovation, accountability, and strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure overall financial compliance, audit, and risk management.
  • Provide executive-level leadership for oversight of departments, committees, and workgroups.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support the planning, development, and administration of the University's long-range capital plan, recommending strategy and vision, and Phoenix Innovation Park.

QUALIFICATIONS:



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field such as accounting, economics, or finance at time of application
  • Evidence of significant progressively responsible experience in financial administration
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of predictive budget modeling and revenue forecasting methods
  • Demonstrated history of effective communications with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to present complex financial information to various audiences in a manner easily understood by non-financial professionals
  • History of progressive supervisory experience, to include direct management over a team of financial professionals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of UW and/or State of Wisconsin financial rules and/or a background in accounting for large, complex organizations
  • Experience implementing new systems that streamline fiscal operations

Some travel is required for necessary meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. Occasional evening and and/or weekend work should be expected.

Position is a full-time Limited appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). SALARY INFORMATION

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

BENEFIT DETAILS

UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
