Job Description - Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure

Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology is recruiting a full-time Pediatric Endocrinologist on the Clinician Scholar track at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time appointment. Anticipated start date is Fall 2024.

The mission of the Division of Endocrinology: The Seattle Children's Endocrine and Diabetes Program, by providing compassionate, innovative, evidence-based and equitable care, will be the clinical center of choice for children and adolescents with endocrine conditions or diabetes in the Puget Sound and WWAMI Region. The Program will harness new technologies, foster collaborative investigation, and conduct expansive educational programs to advance the understanding and treatment of hormonal disorders. The Division will be nationally and internationally recognized for clinical care, teaching, and research in pediatric endocrinology.

The clinician-scholar will be expected to spend the majority of their time engaged in clinical work. The clinician Scholar track is for faculty interested in scholarly pursuits, such as clinical research. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $14,000-$15,167 per month ($168,000-$182,004 annually) or Associate Professors $15,834-$18,209 per month ($190,008 - $218,508 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children's University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), must be Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology, and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington. Applicants must have completed a US accredited pediatric residency and a pediatric endocrinology fellowship program.

Applicants must provide evidence of clinical excellence in the form of scholarly productivity, or the potential for such.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
