Job Description - Assistant Track and Field Coach

Assist the Head Women's/Men's Track and Field Coach in the administration of all aspects of a NCAA Division I Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Program.

Job Duties

*Design, implement and supervise all throwing events for the women's and men's team. Supervise athlete's training schedules and develop strategies for competition.

*Individualize when necessary to account for individual differences and to improve areas of weakness. This includes organizing and supervising the fall conditioning program and monitoring the athlete's strength training programs.

*Responsible for all aspects of recruiting for the women's team. Identify, contact and recruit student-athletes in all event areas who meet the Davidson academic profile. Additionally, recruit throwers for the men's team.

*Travel. Includes travel time away from campus with the team and assisting the head coach in meet scheduling, lodging arrangements and equipment requirements. Requires being on duty for 1-2 days for 10-13 competitions per academic year.

*Other administrative duties. Includes equipment purchasing, record keeping, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, A-10, and Davidson College athletics regulations, policies, and overall mission of amateurism.

*Meet management. Assist the head coach in all aspects of meet management including contacting teams, arranging for officials, entry and seeding of athletes in events, meet schedule, meet heat sheets and coordination with maintenance crew and other offices of the athletic department.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree; Level I or higher coaching certification in track and field event areas preferred. National strength training certification desirable. Valid N.C. driver's license. Coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level--collegiate level preferred--and/or collegiate athletic experience in the sport of track and field, particularly the multi-events

USATF Level 1 or higher coaching certification preferred. Strength and conditioning background desired.

Knowledge of track and field events, physiology, physical conditioning and biomechanics. Advance computer skills including word processing, data management, internet usage and the ability to utilize sports related software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
