Position Vacancy Announcement Florida A&M University is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Postdoctoral Associate vacancy. Responsibilities The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystem-II (CCME-II), led by Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in partnership with Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU), California State University- Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Jackson State University (JSU), Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC), and the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Center; The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research and participate in the training of CCME-II graduate and undergraduate scholars in the CCME-II thematic areas aligned with NOAA priorities and NOAA Science and Technology Areas of Focus; NOAA-CCME-II’s primary mission is to educate a new generation of scientists in NOAA-aligned disciplines, particularly from communities traditionally underrepresented in these fields; Integral to this mission is collaborative research addressing NOAA priorities, particularly those of the National Ocean Service and the Oceanic and Atmospheric Research NOAA line offices; The NOAA EPP/MSI CSC postdoctoral fellowship is intended to enhance the research training of promising postdoctoral candidates who have the potential to become productive, independent investigators in the scientific research fields relevant to the NOAA mission, particularly coastal and marine ecosystems; This fellowship is initially a 12-month appointment with the potential for extension up to 24 months; The successful candidate will be based at the CCME-II lead institution, FAMU, and will also spend a 6-12-months conducting research in person at a NOAA facility in collaboration with a NOAA mentor; Coordinates research activities in collaboration with CCME-II faculty and NOAA scientists; Assists CCME-II faculty with laboratory and field-based student research and training activities; Conducts research at a NOAA facility for a 6–12-month period during the fellowship; Develops an independent research project in marine/coastal/estuarine ecology or biogeochemistry; Presents at professional, scientific meetings and publishes in peer-reviewed journals; Facilitates research experiences for CCME-II undergraduate and graduate students; Performs other related duties as assigned by the CCME-II Center Director. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Marine Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science, or related field with experience in coastal, marine, and estuarine ecology and/or biochemistry. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following: Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Research experience in a relevant field, demonstrated productivity, and evidence for independent research. Experience in laboratory, bioinformatics, and/or fisheries trophic ecology research methods. Experience in collecting data and working with large databases. Pay Plan This is a Faculty position. Conditions of Employment Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
