Job Description - Biostatistician IV

HJF is seeking a Biostatistician IV  to provides biostatistical support for clinical and/or laboratory research. Involves performing statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies. 

 

This position will be in support of the Center for Health Services Research, Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics, Uniformed Services University. 

 

The Center for Health Services Research (CHSR) provides timely, evidence-based, actionable knowledge for decision support in the Military Health System (MHS) and lessons to the Nation; and builds capacity for future health services research priorities through engagement with students, faculty, and colleagues inside and outside the DoD. A strength of the CHSR is its access to the MHS Data Repository, which enables in-depth investigations through secondary analysis of data; and requires the candidate to be proficient in SAS. The candidate will be expected to work across CHSR projects in order to strengthen biostatistical and epidemiological rigor. This is a writing intensive position to include substantial work on manuscripts, presentations, and other scientific knowledge products.

We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

  • Recommends and advises on the design of biomedical research protocols.
  • Provides statistical support via statistical consultation and data analyses throughout the courses of studies and prepares statistical reports for presentations and publications.
  • Coordinates statistical analysis and protocol data between protocols by providing statistical consulting on an ad hoc basis.
  • Provides relevant statistical and project status updates to research staff. Recommends and implements changes as needed.
  • Works with research staff to achieve the goals of the research program.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assigned Lead: May recommend the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, and starting salaries.
  • Provide input on employee performance evaluations.

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required

or 

  • Doctoral Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in the design of clinical trials.
  • Knowledge of medical science and research.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to make effective presentations and publish.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment  

  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic, laboratory, or office environment.

Security Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required; Ability to obtain and maintain a T3 secret clearance.

 

Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
