Salary: $9,726 to $15,565 per month (Minimum to Maximum, EM-07)

The notice of the last day to file applications will be posted on the State of Hawaii's Civil Service Job Opportunities Listing page of our website.The function of the Business Management Officer (BMO) series is to advise and assist the Director and program managers of one of the larger State departments regarding various business management functions (exclusive of personnel management), and to direct and coordinate relevant administrative staff services and controls; and perform other related duties as assigned. The BMO positions are typically located in the central staff office of a department having several major programs which involve: 1) operations and activities which are widely dispersed geographically; 2) fiscal requirements encompassing a variety of sources of operating funds and program earnings and a heavy volume of financial transactions and control activities; and 3) manpower requirements reflecting a broad and complex organizational and staffing pattern as indicated by varied classes of work and a relatively large number of employees. The BMO II level advises and assists top management in various business management functions and directs and coordinates administrative staff services and controls. This class is distinguished by its responsibility for the development and conduct of various administrative staff services including the formulation of policies and business management procedures.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. General Experience: Three (3) years of administrative, professional, analytical or other responsible work experience which required a high degree of managerial skill. Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience which involved: A. The analysis, evaluation, development, and improvement of managerial policies, practices, methods, systems and procedures; OR B. The development, evaluation or revision of fiscal management practices, methods, policies and procedures; OR C. Budget evaluation and development of budget justifications. Administrative Experience: One (1) year of administrative experience which involved active participation in and major responsibility for the development, management, execution and coordination of policies, programs, and/or activities.
