Job Description - Chief of Hospitalist Medicine

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick is seeking a Chief of Hospitalist Medicine Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) New Brunswick is seeking a Chief of Hospitalist Medicine in the General Internal Medicine Division within Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, The State University of New Jersey. In this role, the Chief of Hospitalist will oversee and lead a dynamic team of hospitalists while enhancing the quality and efficiency of our hospitalist program. In this key role, the selected candidate will collaborate with hospital administration, medical staff, and various departments to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and upholding medical activities in accordance with hospitalist standards, clinical best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishing and enforcing evidence-based medicine policies for patient safety and therapeutic reliability.
  • Evaluating and assessing hospitalist physicians’ performance, including professional capabilities and patient relationships.
  • Coordinating with the Department of Medicine on individual performance evaluations and physician appointments.
  • Analyzing feedback related to program performance and physician conduct, providing constructive input to the hospitalist team.
  • Overseeing patient assessment activities, utilization review, and quality assurance programs.
  • Conducting regular patient record reviews to evaluate documentation quality and care/treatment appropriateness.
  • Educating hospitalists on accurate patient encounter documentation and coding practices.
