Summary: We are looking to fill multiple roles of Communications Center Operator-I. The operator will answer and direct incoming and outgoing messaging services via telephone, paging systems and in-house communications modes; and to enact emergency and disaster preparedness procedures in support of hospital system physicians, clinicians, and staff. The role is entry level and onsite. Prefer someone with customer service background.
Think you've got what it takes? DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answers and directs incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assists in the maintenance of up-to-date on-call schedules and contact information for TCH
providers and services/departments in paging system and updating appropriate Communication Center
documentation.
- Performs other essential job-related duties. Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of hospital clinics, departments, personnel, policies and emergency procedures.
• Must be able to operate telephone system operator console and database systems.
• Verbal communication and listening skills, typing 35 wpm, the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, customeroriented
interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle emergency situations without panic.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred. QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
- H.S. Diploma or GED required Experience:
- Customer service (in person or phone) experience

Good to have:
- Experience as a telephone switchboard operator
- Experience in a healthcare environment
