Position Summary:

The Configuration Manager fulfills daily services related to the management of configuration items (CI’s) within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), including the analysis and updating of CI records. Responsible for the management of data quality and organizational adherence to CMDB policies and procedures. Develops processes to manage data integrity. Maintains accurate records pertaining to the organization's hardware and software assets. Ensures assets and CI records are properly updated for required fields and in a timely manner.

Follows policies, standard procedures and controls that protect assets from financial, security, regulatory and compliance risk. Follows policies to promote the effective use, deployment, and recovery of assets to ensure optimal service delivery, while minimizing organizational costs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the configuration management process meets the organizational requirements for CMDB.
  • Coordinates the allocation of responsibilities, while ensuring that all relevant staff have the required technical and business understanding, knowledge, and training in the process, and are aware of their role in the process.
  • Responsible for the execution of the process controls, ensuring that staff comply with process and data standards.
  • Defines the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the process.
  • Monitors and reviews the execution of configuration management process at a high-level, ensure it remains consistent with the organization’s requirements and IT Service Management strategy and ensure coordination with all other IT processes.
  • Achieves high-quality CMDB and asset inventory data, including data accuracy and completeness of required data points at each stage of the asset lifecycle.
  • Manages any new requirements or changes to the CM Process.
  • Coordinates design work for CI discovery, integrations, and other data import methods.
  • Provides training and instruction on the proper tracking and maintenance of CI data.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in ITIL/ITSM, or PMP.

Preferred:

  • Certification in ServiceNow System Administrator (CSA).

Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum three to five years of configuration management experience.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • A working knowledge of information systems and network infrastructures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of traditional Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • In-depth knowledge of systems and configuration items used in IT and the health care industry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability and willingness to learn.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB management.
  • Experience with ITIL/ITSM.
