We are currently seeking a qualified and dynamic Controller to join our Finance team. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance, this role is pivotal in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while fostering collaboration across the organization. Position Overview: As our Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations and leading a dedicated team. Your responsibilities will include: - Cultivating an innovative and accountable Finance team culture aligned with our mission and values. - Supervising daily accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll operations. - Overseeing the preparation of monthly financial schedules and statements. - Directing year-end financial closure procedures and audit analyses. - Collaborating with various departments to develop and refine annual organizational budgets. - Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and fundraising laws. - Partnering with internal teams to integrate donor databases with accounting systems. - Identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies and financial procedures. - Supporting the Vice President of Finance as needed. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred. - Minimum of 10 years of financial experience, with nonprofit finance experience required. - Expertise in payroll and database systems. - Proven experience leading teams and motivating others to achieve results. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. - Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and government grant accounting. - Detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills. - Fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Position Specifics: - Location: Mid-Atlantic (D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia), Mid-West (Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis), or East (Raleigh, Detroit, New York City) - Remote work. - Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 annually. - Annual Incentive Bonus Eligibility: up to 8%. - Direct Reports: Payroll Manager, Assistant Controller. - Reports to: Vice President, Finance.
